THE POWER OF LETTING GO
At some point in life we will encounter times when we feel we’re losing control of a situation that in some way defines our view of who we are; or who we think we are. It will often be The catalyst for these challenges takes many forms, but is usually a result of external situations impacting us internally. that occur externally, the effect it has on our value system ultimately ends up defining the lessons we are willing to learn
2020/2021 has, for the most part, been an unavoidable and unprecedented period of self reflection; the ideal habitat for a bit of paradigm shifting. It would be unusual to find anyone who hasn’t found themselves questioning whether the life they have been leading, until this point, is still in step with their truest needs.
Left to our own devices, most of us are fine bobbing along in the waters of life, fighting the currents and focusing on the shore as we see fit. It becomes very easy to believe that this is how life should be; that everything should be above the water line and therefore a part of us and our reality, whilst everything that lies below, unseen, isn’t our business.
The tricky part for those who are unprepared is that when something totally unexpected does occur and the tide goes out, the things that are revealed about us and our world are telling, because more often than not they tend to be everything we had been burying and avoiding.
Within the pressure cooker of self isolation, social distancing and total, distraction-free immersion in our own company, you could say that the tide has well and truely gone out for all of us, perhaps for the first time in our lives. This is certainly challenging, but it’s meant to be.
The form our challenges take will be different for everyone, however one thing that they all share is a transformative quality that has the power to shape us into something stronger, kinder, wiser and more authentic than we presently are. And the power to do so only exists in adversity.
The truth is that none of us really has a choice in whether we face up to these challenges. If we choose to look the other way, sooner or later they will come back into view, because they belong to us. We have to face them squarely at some point and that may not seem like any choice at all. But we do have a choice in how we view them and how we allow ourselves to be transformed by them. In this respect, however unlikely it seems, they are gifts.
For those of us who have come to understand life on more spiritual terms it may seem as if the lessons that manifest along our path should be easier to navigate past, and yet often the opposite is true.
The key here is to undergo a process of returning to your truth. You may well be wondering, with some impatience: “What the heck does that mean?”
It is the process of allowing the rhetoric and noise surrounding every social and political situation in your life to fall away, until you feel a reconnection with who you really are and have always been. Within this connection is a more truthful insight of what you want and need in your life. This is the strongest start that we can give ourselves in any situation.
This section is designed to provide you with some techniques and processes that we have tried ourselves and found to be effective in helping shift some of the negative elements that crop up in life, and open the door to a more positive, authentic way of living.
